THE HISTORY OF AL-BUKHARI LIBRARY
The library of UiTM Cawangan Pahang, firstly established at Teluk Sisek, Kuantan, Pahang on 1985 and had to move to the fixed campus in Bandar Jengka, Pahang on 1993. On that year, the name of the library mostly known as Al-Bukhari Library. On the early opening on 1985, ITM Pahang's library on that time had only 4 staffs and led by En. Wan Shuib Wan Bain. Along with the progress UiTM, now Al-Bukhari Library, UiTM Cawangan Pahang already had 27 staffs that was led by Deputy Chief Librarian, Puan Rosnita Ja'afar.

The fascilities in our library : 
  • Customer service (Library membership,borrows and returns)
  • Information service (Library orientation, information skills class)
  • IT service (IT room, wifi)
  • Discussion room

10 THINGS MUST KNOW ABOUT AL-BUKHARI LIBRARY

1. Operating hours
  • Monday-Friday (8.00 am - 6.30 pm)
  • Saturday (9.30 am - 4.30 pm)
  • Sunday and public holiday (close)
2. Borrow and return books
  • Diploma students can borrow up to 20 books
  • The duration of borrowing is 14 days
3. Steps to borrow and return books
  • Search the book using OPAC (Online Public Acces Catalogue)
  • Then, search the book at racks in the library according to the label
  • Finally, go to the counter and tell the librarian that you want to borrow the book
4. Fines
  • If we late return the books, we will be charged 20 cents for 1 day late
5. Book lost
  • Immediately go to the library and report to the librarian that the book you borrowed had lost
  • We will be given 14 days to find the lost book
The payment for the lost book :
  • Pay RM20 for the service
  • Fine/buy the new same book with the latest edition
6. Internlibrary loan
  • borrowing between library
7. The usage of IT room
  • IT Room 1- 60 pc
  • IT Room 2- 20 pc
  • We can use the room for 1 hour
8. Library zone
  • Silent zone- Caroll desk, zero voice
  • Sosial zone- Discussion room (8 to 10 people), we must booking 3 days early before use it
  • Quiet zone

HOW TO READ BOOK ?
Tips to read books in a proper way:
  • Table of content
  • Index
  • Back of the summary/book
After we had listened to the talk, we had to do some activity in group. The activity is as below :
  1. Choose 5 books and fulfill the form
  2. Read the books correctly and identify; call number, table of content,index
  3. Returning the books (Left at your table)
We had to do the referencing of the books using the APA style.

WHAT IS APA STYLE ?
  • APA (American Psychological Association) style is most commonly used to cite sources with within social sciences
  • APA style originated in 1929, when a group of psychologists, anthropologist and business managers convened and sought to establish a simple set of procedures or style rules thet codify the many components of scientific writing to increase the ease of reading comprehension.
  • As with other editorial styles, APA style consists of rules or guidelines that a publisher observes to ensure clear and consistent presentation of written material. It concerns uniform use of such elements as :
  1. selection of headings, tone and length
  2. punctuation and abbreviations
  3. presentation of numbers and statistics
  4. construction of tables and figures
  5. citation of referance and many other elements that are a part of a manuscript
  • APA style rules and guidelines are found in the sixth edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.
